For our final piece of work, we used what we have learned in the last two outings to go and create our on VFX Project with the theme of a Hologram. At first it seemed simplistic but with time and ideas floating around this became more of about the entire piece than the hologram itself. Using a hologram requires a video, a video requires a story. I began thinking what I could do within my own limits and decided on a rusty, dirty looking near future theme and tone. I played into this further by adding a year, a rough outfit and the content of my hologram itself, running numbers and patterns on my overlay instead of a social media scroll. Then adding almost a warning and alarm when a face is shown flashing in red on this characters second display, our hero loads his weapon before revealing him to be 'Patient Zero'

FinalCut X was used to create the digital effects. By transforming the images, distort, keyframes and masking with a blended opacity I was able to make the holograms appear as if they flashed on like notifications and keep them within this post apocalypse vibe.
